We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful, how readers move through the guide, what devices and browsers are used, and how visitors arrive at the site. GA4 may process page paths, referrers, approximate location, device and browser information, event data, and pseudonymous identifiers.

Analytics is used in aggregate to improve editorial planning, navigation, search visibility, and technical performance. We do not use GA4 to identify individual readers, and we do not intentionally send names, email addresses, payment details, or message contents to GA4.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel and related infrastructure may process standard request and security logs, including IP address, user agent, requested URL, referring URL, status code, timestamp, and similar diagnostic data.

Hosting logs are used to deliver pages, protect the site, diagnose errors, measure performance, and investigate abuse. Retention and infrastructure handling are governed by Vercel's platform controls and policies.

Crete Guide does not require account cookies to read public pages. Google Analytics 4 runs only if you accept it in the banner; it then sets cookies to distinguish visits and understand usage patterns. If you decline, it is not loaded at all. Vercel or browser-level infrastructure may also use limited technical identifiers needed for delivery, security, or diagnostics.

You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the foot of every page, or limit cookies through your browser settings and privacy extensions. Blocking analytics cookies should not prevent public guide pages from loading.

If you email us, we will receive the information you choose to send, including your email address and message contents. We use correspondence to answer reader questions, review factual corrections, and maintain the guide.

Do not send sensitive personal information, travel documents, payment information, or confidential material by email.

If you sign up for the newsletter or the cookbook's Island Pantry Starter Kit, we collect the email address you enter and nothing else. The address is sent to MailerLite, the email service that stores the list and sends the letters on our behalf. You are only added after you confirm through the link in the confirmation email (double opt-in).

We use the address to send occasional letters about the guide and the books, and the Starter Kit if you asked for it. The legal basis is your consent. MailerLite may record whether an email was opened or a link was clicked, which helps us see what readers find useful. We do not sell or share the list with anyone else.

Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing withdraws your consent. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. To see, correct, or delete what we hold, email the address below. The sign-up records an analytics event that notes which page the form was on, never the address itself.
