    Independence & Ethics

The value of this guide depends entirely on its independence. Without it, recommendations become advertisements, and trust dissolves. We have structured this project to make compromise impossible.

    Editorial independence

Every decision about what to include, what to write, and what to remove is made solely by those who research and write this guide. No external party—patron, partner, or establishment—has influence over editorial content.

We do not accept suggestions for inclusion. We do not respond to requests for review. We do not engage with public relations representatives. The only path into this guide is through our own observation, over time.

    Separation of patronage and content

This guide may earn revenue from reader access, clearly disclosed referral links, or affiliate links where they are useful to the traveler. There are no paid inclusions, sponsored reviews, or placements sold to establishments.

Commercial links do not create recommendations. A place, route, hotel, service, or product is considered first on editorial grounds. If a useful booking or referral path exists after that judgment is made, it may be linked with disclosure. If no such path exists, the recommendation may still appear.

    Refusal of commercial pressure

We do not accept free meals, complimentary stays, or gifts of any kind. All visits are conducted anonymously where possible, and always at our own expense. This is not virtue—it is methodology.

We do not accept paid placement, free travel, complimentary stays, gifts, or promotional consideration in exchange for coverage. Affiliate or referral arrangements, when used, are limited to disclosed outbound booking paths and never influence inclusion, ranking, or description.

    Conflicts of interest

If a personal relationship exists with anyone connected to an establishment under consideration, that establishment is excluded from the guide. There are no workarounds, no disclosures that permit inclusion, no special handling.

The absence of a place from this guide may mean many things. Conflict of interest is one of them.

These standards exist because the alternative—a guide shaped by commerce rather than judgment—would not be worth making. We would rather publish nothing than publish something compromised.

    Editorial note

These ethics govern editorial independence. For the principles behind our approach, see the Editorial Manifesto.
