I build this guide slowly, and the practical planning pages are open to everyone.
I write this guide because Crete pays you back for doing your homework. Some pages are public planning tools: where to stay, how to get around, when to travel, and what to know before you arrive. Other entries are more selective, because naming a place in print has consequences for it.
What's open and what isn't comes down to usefulness and care, not secrecy for its own sake. Practical travel advice should be easy to reach; the sensitive recommendations I share more carefully.
What is public
Planning guides on where to stay, when to visit, how to get around, and what to know about the island before you arrive.
Essays on the island, its history, geography, food, villages, and culture.

What requires access
Some full entries, especially where I name specific establishments or sensitive places.

Any future paid access product will be clearly marked before you are asked to pay.
Why access is limited
Every recommendation has consequences. When a place gets named, it can change, sometimes for the better, often not. I'm the foreigner here myself, so I handle the most sensitive recommendations with care: I want readers to arrive prepared, and I don't want small places treated as something to find, photograph, and forget.
